Dropping some lbs so Nathan and I can have many years of not sitting on the couch.

I don’t post this to scare anyone thinking about triathlons. It was just interesting to me since its basically what happened to me when I attempted a tri earlier this year. Pack of people, already nervous for an open water swim, one little thing goes wrong (kick to the face in my case) and everything ramps up. I’ll still try again next year with a better understanding of what I’m in for. The start is chaos, and if you aren’t pretty prepared for it, it can be overwhelming.
I love spotify, its so much fun to find old music I wouldn’t remember about otherwise. Right now I’m working on a guilty pleasures playlist of crappy poppy music from the mid to late 90s into the early 2000s. Any suggestions? Its pretty light on content right now, so I take to tumblr, what are your guilty pleasure songs?
It was a swim day today, and one of my co-workers is a swimmer. So I was talking to him and he asked what kind of a swim I was doing for workouts and offered to put one together for me. I took him up on it and did it tonight.

Total 1800 yards, about 45 minutes. Good workout, I’ve never done drills so I was pretty awkward with the pull buoy, and legs were dead after kickboard. All in all it was a good workout.
Food was good today as well, 1390 consumed, 443 burned, 947 net, 283 below goal.
Pretty good day. When I got off work I felt tired, and thought about how Nathan and I were going to hang out till Tiffany got off work, then rush to eat dinner, then rush to swim class, next thing you know it’ll be 9pm and I’ll be able to get ready to run. I just felt tired and that felt unappealing.
But I did it.
Couch to 10k, week 9 Day 1.
Warm up walk 5 minutes
Run 7 minutes
Walk 2 minutes
Repeat run walk for a total of 7 times
Cool down walk 5 minutes
Lady was really wanting to go, so I got her leash and took her with. She was really good first 45 minutes or so, complete spazz the rest of time, take off after shadows and anything that moved, or wanting to stop to smell a bush for half a second. Oh well.
5.90 miles, 1:11:01, 12:02 per mile
Calories were good. 1555 Consumed, 779 burned, 776 net, 454 below goal. I did snack on a few fun size candy bars. Damn you halloween.
Covered the bike ride earlier, not a lot else going on so straight to the calories. Ah, good ol’ calories….
1510 consumed, 308 burned, 1202 net, 28 below goal. Doing pretty good on the calorie front since refocusing.
Looking at the next couple weeks coming up and wondering how it’s going to go, or how to approach it. Going out of town for Thanksgiving (Weds-Sun), then the following week I’m living out of a hotel for work. Both take me out of my rhythm and take a bit of my control out of my hands. Eh, but that’s for another post. Just random late night thoughts.
It’s been a while since I road my bike. The days are shorter, weather is worse, my wife gets home from work at a quarter to 7 so I’m home with Nathan. It just hasn’t worked out.
So tonight when Tiffany’s grandparents asked if they could watch Nathan before going South for the winter I was pretty excited to get a bike ride in. Dropped him off after work, rushed home, changed, aired up the tires and jumped on the bike.
It started getting dark really quick, so I took the short loop. Great ride. Even the short loop and the perfect timing of everything with Nathan left just not enough daylight.
6.44 miles, 27:21, 4:15 per mile average.
With running ramping up, and long runs about to consume free time on the weekends, it’s time to put the bike away for the winter. It was nice to get another good ride in though.
Heaviest Weight: 234.8
Starting Weight: 192.4
Last Week: 192.4
Current Weight: 186.4
Lost in the last week: 6lbs
Lbs till goal: 21.4
6 lbs in a week is crazy. Some of that is eating poorly right before restarting, and some of it is that initial water weight you lose whenever you kick it in to high gear. Regardless, I’m pretty happy with those numbers, they’ll probably be a more reasonable rate going forward.
My dad’s friend gave me this laptop for an early Christmas gift but I already have one and no one else in my family needs it as well. So I’m giving this away as a Thanksgiving/Christmas raffle!
