Dropping some lbs so Nathan and I can have many years of not sitting on the couch.

Goodnight bike

It’s been a while since I road my bike. The days are shorter, weather is worse, my wife gets home from work at a quarter to 7 so I’m home with Nathan. It just hasn’t worked out.

So tonight when Tiffany’s grandparents asked if they could watch Nathan before going South for the winter I was pretty excited to get a bike ride in. Dropped him off after work, rushed home, changed, aired up the tires and jumped on the bike.

It started getting dark really quick, so I took the short loop. Great ride. Even the short loop and the perfect timing of everything with Nathan left just not enough daylight.

6.44 miles, 27:21, 4:15 per mile average.

With running ramping up, and long runs about to consume free time on the weekends, it’s time to put the bike away for the winter. It was nice to get another good ride in though.

6 lbs in a week is crazy. Some of that is eating poorly right before restarting, and some of it is that initial water weight you lose whenever you kick it in to high gear. Regardless, I’m pretty happy with those numbers, they’ll probably be a more reasonable rate going forward.

Daily Wrap: found out how to get my calories in when I run

Turns out the secret is Pizza. I know, I know that’s probably not the ideal way to get your calories in…

Anyways still stayed under goal, and got Week 8 Day 3 of couch to 8k in.

Work out was:
5 minute walk
Run 5, Walk 1
Repeat run walk intervals total of 9 times
5 minute walk

5.19 miles, 1:03:38, 12:15 per mile. Felt pretty good, legs are a little sore but knee is still feeling good.

Calories were under goal, 1673 consumed, 682 burned, net 991, 239 goal.

Oh! Another Oregon victory too, so it was a pretty good night. Tomorrow is weigh-in, I think I’ll like the number since starting over last week. We’ll see then.

I have to start counting the calories again. I’m stalling on it cuz I hate doing it.

Yeah, I hate calorie counting, but it seems to be a necessary evil for me till goal weight.

Not much going on today.  We went out to eat, and I went over on calories, but not terribly bad.  1395 consumed, 0 burned, net 1395, 165 over goal.

It was cold, it was foggy, I was sore from swimming yesterday.  So while the time and pace wasn’t that great I’m just glad I got out there and stuck to the schedule.  Also happy to have no knee pain again after the run.  I’ve got my hopes up before, but maybe just maybe the IT Band is getting better?

Week 8, Day 2 of Couch to 10k.

4.56 miles, 57:43, 12:39 per mile.  Pretty slow pace, I felt sluggish, and didn’t really push myself, this was just a get through it sort of day.

Calories were good 1660 consumed, 592 burned, 1068 net, 162 below goal.

Daily Wrap: Swim edition

Great swim tonight. I don’t have a watch to do times so I’m not sure what they were, and I just made up the workout, but it felt good.

I did 8x50yards with the last 50yards as a sprint. One minute rest, and then repeat for a total of 4 sets. Ended with a minute rest, sprint 50, minute rest, sprint 50. Total of 1700 yards in about, 45 minutes.

Food was pretty good as well, I did have some little snacks but I stayed under goal. 1510 consumed, 446 burned, net 1064, 166 below goal.

Tomorrow is the continuation of my jump in to couch to 10k, with week 8 day 2.
